Gender Equality

THE NETWORK

EUROCADRES launched a European network for women in managerial positions called FEMANET, in the beginning of 2000. It has now approximately 110 members from all over Europe. The members are primarily female managers (Members of EUROCADRES affiliates) and trade union officers working with related issues in their unions.

OBJECTIVES - A mission statement

It is the mission of the FEMANET network to support the members through:
- expanding their professional and personal network across Europe
- increasing their social capital so as to increase their qualifications and thus their market value as managers and as professionals
- analysing and understanding potential obstacles to their careers
- intervening through EUROCADRES on the European level regarding female management, particularly in the Social Dialogue
- bringing its members closer to European policy-making, by functioning as a reference group for EUROCADRES on equality issues

PRIORITIES

The priorities of FEMANET are to:

- promote contacts between the members, helping them to build their personal networks
- facilitate exchanges of experiences, best practices and information in the network
- initiate projects that support the goals of the network.
- develop contacts with institutions and organisations on the European level, particularly through the participation of EUROCADRES in the Advisory Committee for Equal Opportunities and the Social Dialogue

Further, FEMANET published a FEMANET Kit which aims at guiding women through the work and career jungle. It gives you advice compiled by a group of female P&MS who are members of the FEMANET network.
