General Information

How to Find a Job (UK)

The government funds a system of Jobcentres across the country with whom you are required to register if unemployed. These advertise jobs but few at professional or managerial level.
Jobs at managerial and professional level are advertised in the “quality” national press such as The Times, The Guardian and The Telegraph; in local papers, especially the London Evening Standard; and in specialist publications relating to specific professions.
Also private employment agencies recruit for a lot of firms (numbers in telephone book).

There are a growing number of web sites that advertise jobs in nearly all sectors. Examples of these are:

There are many more, and a general Internet search may provide you with details of recruitment agencies that deal specifically with your sector.

Although there are jobs advertised which require foreign language skills, it is unlikely that you will find a job in the UK unless you can speak at least some English.

Trade Unions in the UK cannot assist you in finding a job, although they may be able to provide you with some information relating to the sector you work in.
