Everyone can continue the rights they had in their country of origin, such as unemployment, marriage, child or retirement benefits, if they bring with them the documents issued by the social security system in their own countries to be registered in Portugal. It is absolutely necessary to bring documents of this type with you, and to register them as soon as you have a job in Portugal. Otherwise you risk a loss of benefit entitlements, including unemployment benefits.
