Responsible European Management

with different case studies on this issues. Read it and don't hesitate to share with us your comments.

Since 2001 EUROCADRES has been working on the CSR issue following the European Commission's Green Paper and since then, we have initiated several projects.

This publication is the result of a cooperation between us and universities, business schools, trade unionists and outlines different case studies on the REM concept.

REM means that companies take their responsibilities for all the effects that their activities have on their surroundings and in this respect social groups are entitled to call companies to account.

Responsible management is a vague concept as it must express different interests often contradictory and it can not be universally accepted as it depends from the context and the values the society shares.

Eventually, the responsible management should lead to an exchange between economic efficiency, social justice and environmental protection.

The first part of this brochure is a case study of Van de Velde, a Belgian company who decided to examine the respect of the SA8000 regulation in its foreign plants. This decision came after the trade union requested so. In this text you can read how this company undertook the process of this audit, the challenges they faced, the results they obtained and the consequences this audit had on the employees and the company.

Then, its a study of Groupe AgroAlimentaire, a French company that decided to go from a economical and social project to the AA way, a social response to globalization and profitability.

Finally, the third text examines the industrial and social relations in a German car manufacturer-STARCAR and on the international level.
