Employment
Maintaining the pressure for full employment
Employment has become one of the main objectives of the European Union. Professional and managerial staff have been hit hard by unemployment, though not as severely as other groups of employees. Despite the creation of many jobs (around 10 million during the period 1995-2001) unemployment remains at much too high a level (around 12 million in the E.U. 15 cuntries at the beginning of 2004). Therefore, efforts to achieve full employment must not be abandoned. It is a permanent and active priority for EUROCADRES. All sectors and all levels of work are concerned.

Maintaining the pressure for full employment
The employment chapter of the report prepared for the EUROCADRES congress 2001 has helped define our current work. The conclusions discussed and adopted during the congress established our priorities, including efforts to improve anticipation of change with employment being actively managed at every levels in term of quantity and quality, expanding training policies, a range of approaches taking sectors and qualifications levels into consideration, removing obstacles to mobility, measures to encourage women's access to professional and managerial positions etc"
Promoting employment in Europe
